A Happy New Year to all our Members

Winter Outing – Leighton House and Linley Sambourne House
On a bitterly cold day in November around 20 members and friends took part in the winter outing with lunch at Café Pasta The guides at both properties were excellent and it was interesting to watch the painter in residence in the studio of Leighton House and compare this Palace of Art with the Victorian family home of the Sambourne’s It also made us all appreciate the modern day comforts of central heating!

President’s Tea Party – Saturday 29th January
The Tea Party this year will be held at Kings Place, 90 York Way, London N1 9AG. Kings Place is a new modern glass building, arts venue and office block 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross station. Before tea there is an optional tour of the venue which will include both concert halls, the backstage area, the public spaces of Kings Place, the Kings Place gallery and the Pangolin gallery. We will also learn more about this interesting building which is in a lovely situation by the Regents Canal in this recently renovated part of London. After the tour which will take around 1hour 15 minutes we will have tea in an area of the Rotunda Restaurant.
Timings: The optional tour will start at 1pm – meet at the reception desk inside the building. Cost £6.
Tea will be at 3pm in the Rotunda restaurant. Cost £15.
Directions: Kings Place is only 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross Station on the right side of York Way going north and is immediately before the canal bridge. Look out for the rather small KingsPlace sign on the building and the Guardian and Observer sign as their offices are also in the building. The 390 bus heading towards Archway stops directly opposite and the London Canal Museum is also close by. A map of the area is attached.
If you would like to come to the President’s Tea Party please complete the slip at the bottom of the page and return to me with your cheque by Friday 21st January.
