Burns Lunch

There was an excellent attendance at our first Burns Lunch on 28th January.  Leonard, as usual,  did an excellent job of providing the haggis, neeps and tatties.  Duncan Craig addressed the haggis in some style and the speeches by Rona Passmore, Carol Whitesmith and Anne O’Hagan were first class.  Many thanks to Anne O’Hagan (and her husband) for the generous donation of the whisky and tablet and to Lynne Freeman for the cloutie dumpling.  It was a most enjoyable occasion and the hall has been booked for the same time next year with a view to doing it all again so do look out for more information nearer the time.

Tour of Somerset House

Our next event is a tour of Somerset House on the Strand.  We will have a dedicated guide who will take us around the building and tell us something of its history. The cost is £5 per head  but as we are limited to 25 people on the tour guests will be very welcome but only if space allows.   However do let me know if you would like to bring a guest and I will have a waiting list. I will contact you about a week beforehand to let you know if your guest can come along.  Payment for the guest can be made on the day.

The tour will start at 11.30am and will last about 1 hour.   We will meet at 11.15am in the entrance hall at the far side of the courtyard.   Lunch has not been organised but the café in Somerset House will set aside tables for us to sit together for lunch for those who decide to stay on.  If you would like to come along please complete the slip at the bottom of the page and return to me by Wednesday 14th  March.

PLEASE NOTE for all of you who have been asking about payment by bank transfer we have finally cracked it!  Details are on the slip but you MUST let me know (by e-mail,  phone or post) the names and number of those coming to the event.
