April 2013

The club held a very successful and enjoyable Burns’ Supper Lunch on Saturday 26th January 2013 at St. Columba’s Church. Thirty-nine members and guests attended. We followed the traditional format of songs, poetry, toasts and addresses, albeit with a bit of poetic licence at times! As always, Leonard produced an excellent lunch, with the traditional haggis being in pride of place. There was a quiz after lunch which proved how little, not how much, we all knew about Scotland! Thank you to the committee, speakers and members who made this event such a success.

Our next event is the President’s Tea Party which will take place on Saturday 13th April 2013 at 3pm in the Kenilworth Hotel, 97 Great Russell St., Bloomsbury. The nearest Tube station is Tottenham Court Road. The cost of the afternoon tea will be £15, payable by cheque to me by post or by bank transfer (details below). Guests will be welcome to attend. We would like to hear from members even if they are not planning to attend an event as this lets us know that everyone is receiving our newsletters.
I hope to see you at some of our events this year,
