December 2014

The AGM of the Club, preceded by lunch, was held on Saturday 1st November 2014 at St. Columba’s with 30 members present. The Committee for 2014/2015 is as follows:

President – Trish Thomson
Membership Secretary – Marjorie Bremner
Past President – Marjory Montgomerie
Webmaster – Carol Whitesmith
President Elect – Anne O’Hagan
Catering – Lynne Freeman
Treasurer – Liz Abbott
Committee Member – Marion Cameron
Events Secretary – Marjory Montgomerie /Anne O’Hagan

At the last AGM members voted in favour of donating £2000 to the University of Glasgow. We have now been told that the recipient of the GU Women’s Club London Talent Scholarship has now been chosen. Her name is Lauren Jane Galloway and she is studying Molecular and Cell Biology.

We were sad to hear that Doris Hutson, a past President and very long standing member, died at the beginning of December. The club has sent letters of condolence to her husband.

Can we remind you that, if you would like to join the club’s LinkedIn group, you can contact Marjorie Bremner on membership@gu-london.org.uk for further information?

Our first members’ event for 2015 is the President’s Tea which will be held at 3pm on Saturday 10th January in the Sky Lounge on the top floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton – Tower of London. Its address is 7 Pepys Street, London, EC3N 4AF. This should be a lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful location. The cost will be £17 per head.
If you are planning to attend the tea party, please complete the slip at the bottom of the page and return it to the Events secretary with your payment. Alternatively, if you are paying by bank transfer, please let the Events secretary know you are planning to attend and that you have paid through your bank. All payments must be received before the event. Hopefully we shall have a good attendance at this event as it has always proved popular in the past.
